Free Community Festival In Ontario To Celebrate 3 Year Anniversary Of Ontario’s First Community Garden
Free entertainment, games, delicious farm fresh food, and a great time for all ages waits at Huerta del Valle’s third anniversary celebration April 2nd 2016. Hip-hop and Bachata dance performance, Zumba class, Aztec Dance, Dancing horses, and headliner Pedro Rivera are just some of the performers who will be on stage.

Kale, broccoli, arugula, carrots, beets, onions, chilies, and don’t forget the tomatoes flourish in the community garden where members walk around the site munching on tasty green snacks picked right from the source. Huerta del Valle is all about changing a way of life and making good food the center of community. Huerta del Valle works to make sure all people regardless of income can each healthy fresh food. Huerta del Valle envisions using its main garden next to Bon View Park in Ontario as a learning center and will expand to have one garden every mile in the city. This is an ambitions vision of transformation in a neighborhood that is still dealing with after effect of the 2007 economic crash. People here want good food, people want good work, and people want safe places for their children to grow and flourish. Huerta del Valle celebrates three years working for these missions. Come join us.
Huerta del Valle has 62 families participating in the project and produces thousands of pounds of food each year all of which is organic and can all be bought for just
$1/lb. There are monthly educational workshops open to the public and HDV is working to create living wage farm jobs through organic agriculture. Almost all of the gardeners are Mexican American immigrants who find opportunity, friendship, health, relaxation, and motivation in the garden.
