SAN BERNARDINO—September 13, 2016—The George White Senior Center in Fontana will undergo a number of repairs thanks to funding approved by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.
“The George White Senior Center is a very popular location for Fontana seniors because of the services, amenities great lunches it provides, and these repairs will help ensure the center can continue serving as a getaway and meeting spot for our senior community,” San Bernardino County Second District Supervisor Janice Rutherford said.
The Board allocated $120,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds to replace the facility’s awning, recoat portions of the roof, replace ceiling tiles, and make improvements to the restrooms as well as security doors. In addition, the Board transferred management of the senior center from the San Bernardino County Department of Community Development and Housing to the Department of Aging and Adult Services, since the latter is more closely associated with the facility.
